The Elderwood Project is a purpose-driven workshop built on the belief that old wood still has stories worth telling.
At its core, the project focuses on wood collection and recycling. We rescue unused, unwanted, or discarded timber and give it a second life. Some materials are carefully cleaned, prepared, and sold on at discounted prices to raise funds for Nordheim. Other pieces are repurposed entirely, transformed into handmade items that are both beautiful and useful, with every sale again supporting the creation of Nordheim.
Where suitable, reclaimed wood is also processed, seasoned, and saved specifically for use in the future buildings at Nordheim. This allows us to honour the material fully, ensuring strong, character-rich timber is used where it matters most, forming the very structure of what we are building.
Nothing here is wasted without thought. Every plank, beam, and board is assessed for what it can become, not what it once was. By working with reclaimed wood, we reduce waste, respect the material, and create pieces that carry character, history, and purpose.
In time, The Elderwood Project will open a dedicated shop offering our handcrafted wares, allowing people to purchase meaningful, sustainable items directly from the workshop. Alongside this, we plan to run community classes and workshops, sharing practical skills, traditional methods, and a deeper connection to natural materials.
The Elderwood Project is about more than making things. It is about sustainability, craftsmanship, and building toward a greener future. Every piece created, every board saved, and every lesson shared helps turn reclaimed resources into something lasting, grounded, and guided by ancient values.
Old wood. New purpose. A future built responsibly.
