What is Northern Realms?

Northern Realms is a fully mobile Viking axe throwing and traditional archery experience. We bring our ranges directly to weddings, festivals, corporate events, private celebrations and other events across Yorkshire and the UK.

Do you have a venue?

No. Northern Realms is completely mobile. We travel to your venue or event and set up everything needed for axe throwing and traditional archery.. We’ve pitched up in fields, castles, car parks, and festival grounds - anywhere we can safely set the stage for a proper Viking showdown.

What space do I need?

To keep everything safe and glorious, we need:

Archery: 3m x 12m

Axe Throwing: 3m x 5m

We prefer flat grass, but some hardstanding is possible. However, all pitches must:

not back onto buildings or parked vehicles

Be positioned where no one can walk behind the targets

Not sure if your space works? Send us a message or photo,  we’ll help you work it out.

Is it suitable for kids?

Absolutely! We offer children’s archery and axe throwing alongside the adult setup, so it’s fun for all the family. Whether you’ve got tiny shieldmaidens or mini berserkers, we’ll tailor the experience to suit all ages and abilities.

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Our instructors guide you through the basics and have you loosing arrows and hurling axes like a proper Norse raider in no time.

Is it safe?

Yes. All our instructors are fully trained.. We use professional equipment, maintain strict range control, and conduct on-site risk assessments.

We’re also fully insured, and risk assessments are available on request,  just let us know if your venue or organisation needs a copy.

How long do sessions last?

Our standard sessions run for 2–4 hours, giving you plenty of time to enter berserker mode and master the skills of axe and bow.

We also offer bespoke packages for larger or longer events.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on your location, event type, and how long you want us for.
Drop us a message with your details, and we’ll give you a tailored quote faster than Thor can swing Mjölnir.

What kind of events do you do?

Pretty much anything, including:

Weddings

Stag & hen parties

Birthdays

Corporate events & team-building

Festivals & fairs

Family fun days

Viking/ famtasy themed gatherings

And just about anything else where sharp things and good vibes are welcome

What happens if it rains?

Rain? Wind? The occasional angry god? We press on unless it’s genuinely unsafe (e.g. high winds or lightning). We’ll discuss weather plans when you book. Dress like you’re heading out on a northern raid - not a spa weekend.

DO YOU TRAVEL ACROSS THE UK?

Yes. Northern Realms is based in Yorkshire but travels across the UK for weddings, festivals, corporate events and private bookings. Travel costs may apply depending on the location, so send us your event details and we'll include everything in your quote.

How do I book?

Easy! send us a raven here, and tell us:

What you’re planning

Where you’re based

When you want us

roughly How many guests are taking part

We’ll sort the rest.

❌ Cancellation Policy

We prepare for every event like it’s a raid — if you cancel, we need to cover the cost of sharpening the axes.

Northern Realms is a small, independent business, and many of our events are booked months or even years in advance. Once you secure a date with us, we turn away other bookings and begin prepping your unique setup — from staffing and logistics to route planning and kit prep.

Cancellations, especially late ones, leave us with costs we can’t recover and no time to fill your slot. This policy protects our business and ensures we can keep bringing Viking chaos to events across the land.

Here’s how it works:

  • All deposits are strictly non-refundable, no exceptions. This secures your date and covers admin, planning, and initial prep.

  • The remaining balance is refundable depending on how much notice you give — but the closer to the event, the less we can offer.

Refund Sliding Scale:

  • More than 60 days before the event: 75% of remaining balance refunded

  • 30 to 60 days: 50% refunded

  • 15 to 30 days: 25% refunded

  • 14 days or less: No refund available

Important Notes:

  • All cancellations must be made in writing — by email, message, or raven.

  • If extreme weather or force majeure makes it unsafe for us to operate, we’ll do our best to reschedule, but refunds will still follow the scale unless we are the ones cancelling.

  • If we cancel (rare, but we’re human), you’ll receive a full refund, including your deposit.
