Fire, Fate & Flying Axes – A Legendary Weekend at Egton Estate, Whitby

This weekend was one for the sagas — filled with stunning scenery, eerie omens, roaring flames, and a wedding that could have pleased even the gods themselves.
We made our way to the beautiful Egton Estate near Whitby, where Sophie and Matt tied the knot in truly magical fashion. The venue itself was breathtaking — rolling green hills, woodland charm, and its very own herd of alpacas. A setting fit for a modern-day Viking love story.
To make the most of the journey, we stayed at one of our favourite retreats — the brilliant Broomfields Farm Holiday Park and Glamping, tucked away in the peaceful Yorkshire countryside. It was the perfect base camp before the big day.
Of course, no Northern Realms weekend is complete without a bit of fate thrown in…While walking the Whitby seafront, Phoenix had his fortune read by a Romany fortune teller — and let’s just say, it gave us chills. The reading was eerily accurate, full of cryptic references and strong hints that tied directly to the future of our Norðheim Viking Village project. Whether it was coincidence or the gods whispering through the cards, it stirred something deep.
But the weekend wasn’t without its trials. As we travelled across the region, we found ourselves caught up in the aftermath of the Langdale Moor wildfires — vast peat fires that had ravaged North Yorkshire for nearly three weeks. We want to extend heartfelt respect to the North Yorkshire Fire Services and the local farmers, who we witnessed firsthand battling tirelessly to bring the flames under control. These quiet heroes of the land deserve far more credit than they ever seek.
Then, to the wedding...
We brought our mobile axe throwing for weddings to Egton Estate, and it was an instant hit. From first-time throwers to competitive cousins, the axe lane was alive with cheers, banter, and a few playful grudges. One of the best lines of the day? “Loser does the washing up!” Nothing like a good axe duel to settle family feuds or relationship rivalries.
For anyone seeking unique wedding entertainment UK axe throwing, this is it. The perfect blend of tradition, adrenaline, and just a dash of Viking chaos — all wrapped into one unforgettable experience.
To Sophie and Matt, thank you for letting us be part of your celebration. May your journey ahead be full of laughter, strength, and victories shared — preferably with someone else doing the dishes And to everyone else: if you're planning a celebration, festival, or feast and want fun event entertainment with axe throwing, or you're curious about Viking axe throwing experience UK options, you know where to find us.
Until next time,
Skol.
